Numerous things

Thanksgiving is over. We trekked to san marcos, an hour and a half south, for thanksgiving. the family was har's. if you don't know who har is, it's one of jasmine's roomies from college who now lives in arizona. anywho, it was good. the food was fantastic. the family a little crazy...but it's a family--who's family isn't a little crazy!

we watched a plethora of movies. i shall try and recall them for you.

matrix revolutions -- decent. my second favorite of the trilogy.

the end of big fish -- i really enjoy that movie.

harry potter and the goblet of fire -- it's another harry potter. the longest book i believe. i haven't read the books, but this one felt really fragmented to me. not enough of one story.

luther -- i've seen this before as well, but forgot most of it. i enjoyed it. it did feel like it just ended though. no real resolution--except for the text at the end.

hostage -- i really liked this movie. i may have a soft spot for bruce willis, but i really enjoyed this movie. it was complicated and a little confusing--which i like. very well done.

bomb the system -- a movie about a graffiti crew. i really enjoyed this one as well. a street movie. very well done and very well edited.

1/2 of waking ned devine -- we got tired. it was pretty good. very british/irish/etc.

and of course, family guy -- a staple at this apartment. mmmmmmfamily guy.

i'm quite sure i forgot something, but yea.

jasmine is at an interview right now. mmmmmmmintereview.

i'm supposed to hear today if i get the driver job.

i have a few other leads, one that i'm really excited about, but know nothing yet.

i'm thinking in one line sentances with two enters following.

i guess that's all.

not bad

i had an interview today. it went good. it is with this company that rents out tons of equipment. from the computers you use to cast something to the edit bays to edit with at the end. i interviewed to be a driver for the post side of things. meaning that i'd deliver edit bays. i'm not sure how i feel about it. i mean, i need work, pretty badly, but at the same time, i don't know that i want to be a driver. it would be boring i think. it would also pay the bills.

i don't even know if they'll offer it to me. by next week i should.

we are spending thanksgiving in san diego. i've never been to san diego. i will tomorrow though.

wonderful weekend.

it seems to be a trend. things have to get really bad before they get good.

i guess i can't yet say it's really good or it got really bad, but i feel like we are on the upswing to goodness.

what a weekend i say. that's what i say. one day we're worrying about money, the next a big check comes in from a former employer. one day i have no job leads, the next i have like 7.

let me elaborate. at the end of this past week i had nothing going as far as job leads. i did have the quasi interview, which led to possible jobness in the undetermined future, but nothing solid yet. saturday i'm looking on craig's list, oh how i love and hate craig's list, and i see a spa that is looking for temporary computer help. and then i find a software company that is also looking for temporary help. the software company has already got back to me. they sent me a few questions that they wanted answered--like what is my experience with tcp/ip and smtp. i couldn't say i had much with that... and on the same day, jasmine get's an email from posting her resume on a resume site, inviting her to a meeting about a possible job--something at a bank.

so it's already looking up, and i haven't even told you about sunday!

sunday. wow. what a day. we were looking for a church, so i emailed the people that i interned with, and they hooked us up with this awesome church that they attend. It's called the junction. they meet in the afternoon, 4:30 and then hang out at a person's house/apartment afterwords. it was awesome. not only were the people really cool and nice and fun, but they were also jumping to help us find work. it was awesome. i got to send my resume to a fella who is an assistant editor and he was going to hand it to his boss and his friend who might need good help. another one of the guys knows this fella who records weddings on 8mm and 16mm film. and he might, hopefully need help as well, so he's going to get in touch with him. all of this stuff is still way out there, i haven't heard anything back yet, but i'm hoping and praying for some work!

well. that was the wonderfulness. anyquestions?

things done, thing doing

well. It seems that a few days have past since my last blog entry. Alas, I do not have a job as of yet, but I did have that quasi Interview, which yeilded this: "If I get an opening, PA or Assistant, I'll give you a call--keep in touch, let me know where you are etc." Which could prove to be a job, hopefully soon. I keep applying for stuff. Patrick, at the center, he does the tech stuff, used to work at a Trailer House, that is, movie trailers, told me to try and get a job doing anything in a post house. If that mean shipping or vault, whatever, he told me i'll move up. So, I applied to several different places as shipping/vault assistant. Hopefully, i'll get something soon. As you can tell from the length of this paragraph and my run-on sentances, I'm thinking about it a lot.

Now onto things i purchased. I know, I don't have money coming in, why do you spend it? well...because i need to i guess. I bought a desk from office max, and a chair. There will be a picture soon. I promise. I guess that's about it. I did buy some groceries today. pizza, ice cream, sandwich meat, blah blah blah. i like frozen pizza. mmm. good. and hummas. i bought that too. i like that. and i started a new bank account today. at washington mutual. it's all free. that's right kids. free. so, i shall be in that trash. as my roommate chris would say.

that's about it. i haven't done that much really. searching craigslist and other such places for email addresses to send my resume to. what fun.

i did start writing something yesterday. i'm not sure where it'll go.

thend.

here i'm sitting, next to roommate chris, across from jasmine, the love of my life. life is good. i cannot complain. we worked on the website today. we registered for gifts. we applied for jobs. we watched family guy.

all is well. it was probably abut 75+ degrees today, no snow.

mmmm.

no snow.

mmmm.

good. i'm good.

beebop

there is an unnamed song in my head, a little tune maybe, i don't know the words.

i heard scott derrickson talk last night and i really enjoyed it. i should say we really enjoyed it, because we both really did.

news of the week: jasmine has a place to live. it's a room in a town house, the price is right, it's relatively close to me, and the landlord is okay with her living there only four months.

i have a quasi interview on thursday. it's quasi because they don't really need anyone yet, but they might--things change often in lalaland. so i'm excited for that. it sounds like a really cool place--laidback and fun.

on the docket for today: make copies of the apartment's keys. investigate mattress purchse. possibly look for a desk (?).

i'm looking forward to having a job. i hope i get one soon. don't get me wrong, sleeping in until noon is great. and thinking about writing and studying biology is great, but i don't really ever do those things. so, i'd like to have something to do with my time--and make some money.

mmmmmoney. how i hate you.

california

Hello. Welcome. Take a seat, please. I have a few things i'd like to tell you about. This isn't going to be in order. Last night, me and my two new roommates went to a double feature of movies. I know, it's a little ridiculous with said movie prices in this crazy city, but they were two movies that i really wanted to see, Jarhead and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. They were a perfect pair too. Jarhead is, if you haven't already guessed it, pretty heavy and loaded with message. Sam Mendes is a very good director and all the actors in that film were fantastic--especially Jamie Foxx and Jake Gylenhaal. Kiss Kiss was hilarious. I didn't really know anything about it, except for what i read on Cinematical.com--which was good, so we went and i loved it. very self aware very funny. it's like a crazy private eye movie meets Snatch [?] i'm not so sure of that comparison... Anywho, i liked it quite a bit.

the road. where do i start. the most surprising thing is we got in an accident. don't worry, we are fine. I was turning around on the main street in barstow, on our way out of town, and jasmine was following me, and she was waiting for on coming traffic and she got rear-ended and then the guy who hit her got rear-ended too. it sucked. she is okay, and her car isn't damaged too much--we don't think. the adjuster took a look at it yesterday and estimated ~$500 worth of damage. so she'll pay the deductable and get it fixed--and hopefully eventually, someone elses insurance will pay her deductable back. but, all in all it sucked. we had to wait for the police to come, we had to wait for the police to talk to everyone we had to wait a lot. and it wasn't fun waiting either.

we stayed with three different people along the way, they were all very hospitable. the Jellings were eager for conversation, ranging from church to weddings to old common friends. the vanderpols were eager to go to bed, and eager to be hospitable. we had a lazy morning there which proved to be very relaxing. and heather took the day off for us, and forgot we were coming on wednesday. oh heather. we enjoyed viewing two volleyball matches of heather's and watching original csi's together.

now we are here. well, now today, i am here and jasmine is in redlands. here is sherman oaks california. i like it. it's very nice. we walked around yesterday and checked out the neighborhood a little, it seems very nice. we also began apartment hunting for jasmine. which might be a challenge to find something close and reasonable.

for those of you interested in statistics:

i got about 25 mpg on the trip.
we traveled 8.5, 10.5, 6, 5 hours on each day
and we filled up with gas, a lot.

those were some sorry statistics. sorry.

well, i guess that is about it. if i forgot anything or you'd like to know something else about the trip, let me know.

night before

i feel weird. my stomach is in a little bit of a knot. if i wasn't leaving tomorrow, i would probably just say i'm hungry, but with my departure in about 14 hours, i think it's more realated to that.

it's not that i'm not ready, i am, the car is packed, full, and i'm ready. it's leaving where i grew up. it's leaving forever (?). i mean i'm sure i'll return. i'll be on the other side of the state for the wedding. i'll be back for some holidays and whatknot. but it won't ever be my home again. it won't be were i sleep every night. it won't be where i am. and that's a weird feeling.

i've often suspected that i go through these emotions really quickly. i don't know if i ignore them before hand, but i just don't really worry about it until today. and i'll probably be okay in a few days/week when i'm all settled in. i don't feel like i'm leaving anything undone. i don't feel like i'm leaving on a bad note at all. i'm very content with how i'm departing.

today was nice. the whole family ate together with grandma and grandpa. it was good. once they left, we started the packing up process. everyone, including nickkyi helped. it was fun. alro and heidi even stopped by, so i could just watch the family pack for a little bit. what a wonderful family i have.

now i'm waiting for jasmine to arrive. she's all packed up too. i hope all of our travels go well. please keep us in your prayers.

i'm unsure of how much access i'll have to the internet on our journey,,,,so farewell, for now.

two more days

I will be in sioux center today, tomorrow, and leave on monday morning. crazy.

it's bittersweet. i'm so happy to be leaving--i have an apartment to live in, with guys i want to live with. I have a Fiance! and she's moving too! I have friends and family who support me. I have friends and family that i will miss. People whom i've become very close to. I hope that march comes quickly.

as far as getting ready to go goes. [how about that sentance!] i've done quite a bit of packin' [thanks mom] and i hope it'll all fit where i think it will--sunday will tell. i'm mentally ready, i think. or i'm avoiding it. i'm really not sure. i think it'll sink in more as these two days pass.

what do you think of the addition to the blog?
