a man a part

we've been in la almost three and a half months. it went by so quickly. i'm quite excited to make a return to that land of iowa. to see those whom i haven't had that chance to see in quite some time. enough with that. that shall come oh so soon.

i'm still working little bits. it's like 1/4 time at both places. i'm hoping it'll pick up for a few days next week. it's work. i'm thinking, after a conversation with a director who worked at cbs for 20+ years, that i should try to do some storys without script, and with a lot of footage. so that i can hone my storytelling skills, without scripts. you see, almost all the work i've done has been with a script or something to follow, and i'd like to work at editing without anything to follow--i make up what to follow. i think that'll help my storytelling abilities as well.

i keep having scenes/ideas pop into my head that i think should be in a screenplay somewhere. but i don't write them down, or do anything about it. that's not good.

we arranged all the seating at the wedding reception last night. it was a good time. i'm very happy with how it turned out.

'ts all

i dig the concept of honing storytelling by not using a script. it really blows the doors wide open and allows you to go in any direction you want. i always find it amazing how so many different things can be said with the same footage.

who are we sitting by?

have you seen any of the spoof trailers, like brokeback to the future or shining? if not, you should google 'em.

Hey jack, i'd definitely say editing stuff w/o script is a really good exercise. It totally forces you to be super creative, although it can be absolutely infuriating and frustrating.

12 days, eh? wow.
